Birthday Things

To me birthdays are one the most special events of a persons life, it’s a great time to remember who you are in Christ. You are unique you are fearfully and wonderfully made – how amazing is that!! I don’t know about you but that thought alone puts me in awe. We are so precious to the Lord that He decided to create us in His very own image. I would like to invite you to just sit and ponder that for a moment. What does this mean to you? What is He saying about you?

Here are a few shots from my recent birthday. Enjoy x

My wonderful man surprised me with some of my favourite flowers wrapped up in a beautiful bundle.

So in love with this bouquet I had to take another picture so you can see gorgeousness of the flowers! 🙂

Who doesn’t love a bit of birthday cake.

Happy girl 🙂

A Brides Journal: The Traditional Wedding

Dress: Designed by Anointing Fashion Design, Earrings: Le Chateau

2 weddings down and 1 to go! We just had our traditional Ghanaian Wedding and it was AMAZING!!

Its 8am I’m awake bright and early…my heart filled with that mix of anxiousness and excitement – you know what I mean ladies. I could feel the sun shining on my face as I lay there and could smell the delicious aroma of the dishes my mother was preparing downstairs (nothing will ever beat mommas home cooking). Not knowing what the day held I jumped out of bed and slipped into something comfortable.

As I proceeded down the stairs the railings were decorated with pink and white balloons, streamers and ribbons at every corner, there were chairs draped with neatly placed and beautiful white covers. The room was perfect.

With the party starting at 1pm and guests arriving from 12:30 I had limited time to get my hair and makeup done!! You know that sense of panic when you just have so much to do…well that was me. Luckily my amazing cousin B was on hand to do what can only be described as a beautiful job with my hair and makeup. With that done and laughing with my girls…I waited to be presented to my handsome groom.

The wedding turned out to be wonderful and emotional, considering I was a bit reluctant to go through with it when my parents had initially mentioned it, I was absolutely thrilled.  Mike and I were separated till it was time for me to enter. He came down to greet my extended family and when the time was right my sister and cousins brought me down for the big reveal.

It was a beautiful day full of love, family and friends and with the love of my life by my side and God at the centre everything perfectly came together.

Here are a few photos from the day! Hope you enjoy! xx

A Brides Journal: The Registry

Marrying someone who is a citizen of another country can be, how shall I put it…complicated. To cut a long story relatively short, recently Mike and I have been on an emotional roller coaster and it has reminded us of how important it is for God to be at the centre of every decision, every action, every word within your relationship and marriage.  It is with this in mind that we decided to complete the registry portion of our big day this June and celebrate the whole shebang in October with all our family and friends.

God has remained faithful (Psalm 119:90). At our lowest points when we saw no way  out we were reminded of Gods promises for us, this not only strengthened our faith but drew us closer to Him. He is the one who has carried us through it all. He is forever faithful and forever true, our God, our Father, our Saviour. I want to encourage all of you – if you are going through any trouble, any storm trust in the Lord – give it to our Father and He will make your path’s straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Here is a few snippets from our special day:

London In Bloom

When the rose bush attempts to pull you in 😉 lol…admiring these beautiful pink Roses in full bloom just off Lavender Hill in Clapham

This city is absolutely gorgeous and I’m making it my mission to capture just some of it’s beauty this summer.

You just have to walk a little off the beaten track and you will fined yourself immersed in the gorgeous displays of flowers and ivy that intertwine so many of London’s homes.

This summer I will take you on a journey of just a few of these hidden gems as I wander London’s streets with my trusty cameraman. I would love for you to join me…enjoy!!

A Brides Journal: The fitting

This day’s been a long time coming – the wedding is the 14th October and everything is just starting to fall into place.

Its 8am – I’m awake and bubbling with excitement – today is the day of my dress fitting!! For you girls who’ve been there, it’s that mix of nervousness over whether the dress fits and excitement to try on ‘the one’ again!! For those of you who haven’t yet been there, yes wedding prep is a roller coaster of emotion, but it is worth every second – it is quite literally a once in a life time, so just enjoy.

I thought it would be lovely to share my Bridal Journey with you before the big day along with one of my best friends, the beautiful Bea!! To top it all off, the seamstress was so helpful and just took all that pressure away. Word of advice girls choose carefully because a good seamstress can make this day and the run up to your wedding such a dream rather than a chore (and that’s the last thing you want…trust me)!

Here are just a few little pics from today and a few of the dresses from my first dress trial that, how shall I put it, didn’t quite make the cut:

In love with the decor, and that chandelier – enough said:

Now for those that didn’t make the cut (first dress trial)!!

When the dress wear’s you instead of you wearing the dress:

When your mum pick’s one out, then realises her error:

The look on my face say’s it all…

Beautiful on some…not for me:

Graceful…but not what I was looking for:

Hope you enjoyed and stay tuned for the next instalment of ‘A Brides Journal’.

P.s. I said YES to the dress!
