2 weddings down and 1 to go! We just had our traditional Ghanaian Wedding and it was AMAZING!!
Its 8am I’m awake bright and early…my heart filled with that mix of anxiousness and excitement – you know what I mean ladies. I could feel the sun shining on my face as I lay there and could smell the delicious aroma of the dishes my mother was preparing downstairs (nothing will ever beat mommas home cooking). Not knowing what the day held I jumped out of bed and slipped into something comfortable.
As I proceeded down the stairs the railings were decorated with pink and white balloons, streamers and ribbons at every corner, there were chairs draped with neatly placed and beautiful white covers. The room was perfect.
With the party starting at 1pm and guests arriving from 12:30 I had limited time to get my hair and makeup done!! You know that sense of panic when you just have so much to do…well that was me. Luckily my amazing cousin B was on hand to do what can only be described as a beautiful job with my hair and makeup. With that done and laughing with my girls…I waited to be presented to my handsome groom.
The wedding turned out to be wonderful and emotional, considering I was a bit reluctant to go through with it when my parents had initially mentioned it, I was absolutely thrilled. Mike and I were separated till it was time for me to enter. He came down to greet my extended family and when the time was right my sister and cousins brought me down for the big reveal.
It was a beautiful day full of love, family and friends and with the love of my life by my side and God at the centre everything perfectly came together.
Here are a few photos from the day! Hope you enjoy! xx

This day’s been a long time coming – the wedding is the 14th October and everything is just starting to fall into place.
Its 8am – I’m awake and bubbling with excitement – today is the day of my dress fitting!! For you girls who’ve been there, it’s that mix of nervousness over whether the dress fits and excitement to try on ‘the one’ again!! For those of you who haven’t yet been there, yes wedding prep is a roller coaster of emotion, but it is worth every second – it is quite literally a once in a life time, so just enjoy.
I thought it would be lovely to share my Bridal Journey with you before the big day along with one of my best friends, the beautiful Bea!! To top it all off, the seamstress was so helpful and just took all that pressure away. Word of advice girls choose carefully because a good seamstress can make this day and the run up to your wedding such a dream rather than a chore (and that’s the last thing you want…trust me)!
Here are just a few little pics from today and a few of the dresses from my first dress trial that, how shall I put it, didn’t quite make the cut:
In love with the decor, and that chandelier – enough said:
Now for those that didn’t make the cut (first dress trial)!!
When the dress wear’s you instead of you wearing the dress:
When your mum pick’s one out, then realises her error:
The look on my face say’s it all…
Beautiful on some…not for me:
Graceful…but not what I was looking for:
Hope you enjoyed and stay tuned for the next instalment of ‘A Brides Journal’.
P.s. I said YES to the dress!
Another amazing find ladies!
This combination of hand gel and cream is divine and if your anything like me, with a slight obsession with lavender you will not be disappointed.
The cream is perfectly light, non greasy and the fragrance lasts ages. Its the perfect summer hand cream light and airy. Highly recommended!
L’occitane is famous for their natural beauty products and organic cosmetics. Definitely check them out!
New Zealand – the filming location for the world famous Lord of the Rings a land of rolling hills where sheep outnumber people!!
We recently flew out to the North Island for the wedding of two of our close friends and this beautiful country did not disappoint. From amazing people to delicious wine this land has something to offer everyone. One thing that really struck us was how friendly and open the people of New Zealand are – just makes life so much easier on these long trips!!
Waiheke Island (just off Auckland) was the perfect setting for our friends wedding and the Island of Wine (as its known) certainly did not let us down. We would be remiss if we did not give a shout out to the Te Motu Winery – a fantastic vineyard with very knowledgable staff and impeccable wine at fantastic prices. Highly recommended if you’re planning a trip to this part of the globe.
All in all this was a wonderful break and if you ever get the opportunity to visit New Zealand we can promise you you won’t be disappointed.
Below are just some of the photos we took on our trip.
Hope you enjoy!

Blue seas, blue skies – does it get any better? Soaking it up under the summer sun!!
For the last few years I’ve been frantically trying to find the best creams for my face, feet and body.
I have tried tons of different products ranging from high end to lower end products. Its hard to find a cream that works right girls?
Here are some of my absolute favourites. These products actually work!
left to right
Jo Malone – Peony & Blush Suede: It has a light and delicate texture. It smells like heaven in a jar.
The Body Shop – Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion: This stuff is gold if you have very oily skin. It does wonders! If you have dry skin I would not recommend this product to you as it literally takes away any oil you have left on your face.
The Body Shop – Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser – This is great if your skin is feeling dull it literally gives you a gorgeous glow that lasts all day and it doesn’t hurt that the vitamin C also combats wrinkles. 😉
right to left
Jo Malone – Velvet Rose & Oud: This is probably my favourite cream by JM. The smell is out of this world! Unlike JM’s Peony & Blush it’s a heavier sent so I would recommend it during the Autumn/Winter months.
Estee Lauder – DayWear Cream: Perfect for the summer months when you want something light and non greasy on your skin. I absolutely love this product and its perfect for oily skin.
The Body Shop – Hemp Foot Protector: I’m not kidding you when I say this is magic in a jar. I have the driest feet on the face of the earth, the Sahara dessert has more moisture then my feet and i’m not kidding. This cream changed my life its a MUST TRY!
If you try these let me know your thoughts!
