Lots of Love M&M

Where Is The Love!?

If you haven’t heard of the recent events that have been occurring in the world especially in America over the last few weeks you must be living under a rock or own no type of media technology. Racial tensions in America are at an all time high. Hate has taken over the hearts of many people on both sides to the point that people are now violently protesting their hate in the streets. The news coverage looks like it has gone back 100 years in history. There are those who claim to be Christian and yet run around the streets preaching hate – this has no place in my bible or my faith!! I am saddened to think that these people have either forgotten who Christ is or never truly knew Him.

So with all of this going on how do we continue to love and be the salt and light Jesus has called us to be?

Firstly, I believe we must open scripture and read what it says about the times we are living in. Christians continue to ask why is this happening but we must remember that it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I believe we are living in a time where everything goes, the moral degradation of society is higher than ever and people have become their own gods and moral authority.

Timothy an apostle of Christ writes;

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Judging from this one scripture and many more that are like it, it’s fair to say some of whats happening in the world is not a huge surprise. With the absence of Christ and morality at an all time low people do not know where to turn or who to look to.

This is where we come in as Christians. It may seem scary and uncertain but we must remember we have a God who is control of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Before the foundations of the world He knew what was to happen. We must not worry or be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6-7), we are children of the most high and we will be protected though all of this.

We must also remember the warning Matthew gives when he says;

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

Matthew 24:12

This verse is speaking to believers NOT unbelievers. Reading it literally shakes me up inside. Many, not a few, MANY hearts will grow cold. This means the majority of Christians. This is a very important scriptural warning because it can only mean one thing, it’s only going to get worse and if we are not reading the word everyday and basking in the presence of God and asking the Holy Spirit to help us in all that we do we may fall through the cracks.

Through all that is happening it is critical we continue to walk in love and remember no matter how bad it gets we know who wins in the end and it truly will be a glorious victory.

So I would like to encourage you to stay strong, be prayerful and keep loving each other after all, that is what we are all called to do. Remember who you are in Christ – you are a Child of God, you are unbreakable and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Be empowered. Be encouraged. Step out in Love and be the light in the dark.

Lots of love xx

The Book Of Judges: Gods Display Of Neverending Mercy

Wow, is my first reaction after finishing reading the book of Judges.

Othniel, Gideon, Samson, Shamgar, Deborah, Jephthah, Ehud these are the names of the seven Judges God raised up in the history of Israel. It was a time when Israel had no King and time when the bible repeatedly mentions “everyone did as they saw fit”. It was a time when apostasy was king among the people, all acts of vile and wicked behaviour were the norm and seen as acceptable. The tribes warred amongst themselves and killed thousands of their own people. Yet in all this when Israel a nation that had seen the wonders of the Almighty God, forgot what He had done for them, but God sent them Judges. They were great leaders with abilities to rule and protect Israel from their oppressors.

The theme of the book of Judges is quite clear after everything God had done, they did not remember and repeatedly turned from the Lord to go back to their sinful ways. But God, who made a covenant with Abraham and claimed Israel as His own, did not give up on them.

Every time they turned back, a Judge was brought up to remind them of the covenant they have with the Lord God Almighty and so back and forth it went.

After hundreds of years of disobedience and repentance one would think God would have given up on the Israelites but God who is so faithful and full of love and mercy never did. Instead He pours out mercy, grace and love on a people who are so undeserving. When they turned back to Him He never once turned His back on them.

One of my favourite parts of Judges in the story of Sampson. At this time Sampson had told Delilah the cause of his supernatural strength (his hair) and she conspired with his enemies the Philistines. So at night as Sampson slept she cut his hair called the Philistines, they seized him, gorged out his eyes and tied him up in shackles. Their trap had worked but the bible says “But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved” Judges 16:22. Just when Sampson thought their was no hope left he cried out to God the account reads;

Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women watching Samson perform. Then Samson prayed to the Lord, ‘Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.’ Then Samson reached towards the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other, Samson said, ‘Let me die with the Philistines!’ Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

Although, his ending was tragic Sampson remembered God and in doing so God did not turn His back on him. Though Sampson died God saved Israel through this monumental event and he killed more Philistines when he died then when he was alive.

I believe the book of Judges teaches us to remember our God. If the Israelite’s had remembered they would not have gotten into some of the situations they were in. It also teaches us that, no matter how far we are, if we make the decision to turn back to our Lord He will never turn us away. The book is also a great depiction of the character of God and, most evidently, his great mercy. Even after all the vile behaviour and wicked practices God still showed unending mercy to His people. What a wonderful God we serve.

Birthday Things

To me birthdays are one the most special events of a persons life, it’s a great time to remember who you are in Christ. You are unique you are fearfully and wonderfully made – how amazing is that!! I don’t know about you but that thought alone puts me in awe. We are so precious to the Lord that He decided to create us in His very own image. I would like to invite you to just sit and ponder that for a moment. What does this mean to you? What is He saying about you?

Here are a few shots from my recent birthday. Enjoy x

My wonderful man surprised me with some of my favourite flowers wrapped up in a beautiful bundle.

So in love with this bouquet I had to take another picture so you can see gorgeousness of the flowers! 🙂

Who doesn’t love a bit of birthday cake.

Happy girl 🙂
